Lab Introduction
Our lab focuses on the comparative genomics and developmental biology of basal metazoans, particularly on jellyfish and hydra models. We are interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying stem cell dynamics, regeneration, and the evolutionary origins of these processes in early-diverging animal lineages.
Research Focus
- Comparative genomics of jellyfish and other cnidarians
- Stem cell biology in Hydra
- Developmental processes in basal metazoans
Key Research Areas
- Genomics and transcriptomics of jellyfish life cycle transformations
- Interstitial stem cells in Hydra and their regulatory mechanisms
- Transgenic approaches to visualize and study stem cell dynamics
Featured Research

Life cycle stages of Aurelia jellyfish - polyp, strobila and ephyra.
